Talimena Scenic Drive
The Talimena Scenic Drive, designated a National Scenic Byway as part of the American Byways Program, is 54 miles long and stretches across the top of the Ouachita Mountains in Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas and offers scenic beauty, outdoor adventure and enlightening historical and educational experiences that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Visitors can enjoy canoeing, whitewater rafting, trout fishing and hang gliding or learn about Native Americans, the Civil War and even Viking explorers!

Queen Wilhelmina State Park
Follow the Talimena Scenic Drive 13 miles west of Mena to the top of Rich Mountain, Arkansas's second tallest peak. The "Castle in the Sky" lodge offers 38 guest rooms including two Queen's Rooms with wood-burning fireplaces, two Regent's Rooms with spa tubs, and the Stilwell Room with a king-size bed and sitting area. The park also offers 41 campsites (35 Class B, five Tent sites, and one Hike-in Tent Site), picnic areas, hiking trails and interpretive programs. Open seasonally in the park are a miniature train and miniature golf course. Admission fees apply for these attractions.

Cossatot River State Park-Natural Area
Located near the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas in the Ouachita Mountains Region of western Arkansas, the park is found south of Mena off of Arkansas Hwy. 246 between Vandervoort and Athens and stretches for 12 miles along the Cossatot River. Weyerhaeuser Company roads provide river access. The Cossatot River forms Cossatot Falls, a rugged canyon that will challenge the most experienced canoeists and kayakers with its Class IV and V rapids.
